MMO Radio – Episode #1: A New Beginning

MMORadioSmall

Welcome to the inaugural episode of MMO Radio! This is the place where MMO and table top gaming collide to bring you the week’s news and hot topics in a fun half-hour format. Together, Adam “Ferrel” Trzonkowski and Chris “Syeric” Coke bring three books, hundreds of blog posts and podcast appearances, and thousands of in-game hours to bear against the topics of the week.

This week we look at the recent layoffs at Trion and what that might mean for RIFT, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria versus RIFT: Storm Legion, B2P as the new payment model for MMOs, and how being a dungeon master is a lot like leading a guild. We may also have inadvertently stumbled into wife swapping and red lace. Maybe.

If you were a fan of our old show, The Multiverse, or are just a fan of MMOs or DnD and are looking for a fun way to spend half-an-hour, this is the show for you.

Please consider leaving us a 5-star review during this most-important time. It will truly help us!

The Multiverse – Episode #30: “Return of the Schnitzel”

Happy Monday Folks!

Another week, another Multiverse! This week we talked about lots of fun stuff, including:

  • Blizzcon 2010 and how some kid broke his leg in the most embarrassing way possible
  • Final Fantasy’s trial extension
  • The multitudes of Halloween events
  • LotRO F2P finally heading to Europe
  • Main Topic: Minecraft being attacked by 4chan – are players really this entitled and are MMOs to blame?
  • Then there’s the other side stuff we always manage to include: The evil that is aspartame, why it’s bad to be a teacher with my name (and no, my name is not “screams like a girl,” though if I was a Native American, maybe it would be), Schnitzel, minecraft airships, and more.

This show was especially nice because we got to spread the Minecraft epidemic even further and infect Maxivik in the chat room. He bought it during the show and played it until 2AM. Welcome to the club, buddy!

We’re playing around with bed music this time, so please let us know in the comments what you think.

Enjoy the show!

The Multiverse – Episode #28: “Guest Starring: Beau and Leala Turkey”

Hey Gang,

Episode 28! Minecraft! Turkeys!

This week we were happy to be joined by Beau and Leala Turkey. You’ll recognize them both as big members of the community. Together they write the Spouse Aggro blog and podcast. Separately, Beau is a columnist for Massively and writes the Free For All and Rise and Shiny columns. Leala is the host the very popular Ravenwood Radio podcast and designer of MMO Voices (which the two started and run together).

We had a plan for a main topic but we wound up having such a good time during the interview that we let it take us where it would. We wind up talking about about WoW, Wizard 101, gamer mentality between “kids” and “adult” games, behind the scenes at Massively.com, what it’s like to work with a large child-based audience (kid stalkers?), and the real scoop on the main free-to-play fears from someone who’s played more of them than most other of us combined.

This was a very fun episode to record and we want to thank Beau and Leala for joining us again. We’ve been following their projects forever and it was great to finally talk to them. We have some great discussion, so let us know what you think in the comments!

Remember to check out their projects and enter to win some Zentia swag! Also, they’d appreciate any help you could give towards meeting their goal for their Extra Life Gaming Marathon for Kids. Go here to donate.

If you like the show, consider dropping us a 5-star iTunes review. We have a little bit of a backlog of iTunes reviews, so get in now and we’ll highlight you on the show. Don’t worry Jeremy Stratton, we haven’t forgotten about you :-D

Enjoy the show!

The Multiverse – Episode #22: “The Greenest Grass is Always Lego”

Happy Hump Day Folks!

We’re back this week with the much delayed Episode 22 of The Multiverse: MMO Radio. We first tried this show back on the ninth – right before real names on the forums got canceled – but, as luck would have it, my hard drive crashed and the show was lost. But, intrepid podcaster and great friend Ferrel stepped up to host our return!

This week, we took a pass on the Real ID topic. Well, mostly. We don’t really talk about it but there’s a little segment at the end Ferrel didn’t want to let fade into the internet obscurity. Instead, we talk about the slew of upcoming MMOs 2010 and ’11 promise to bring us. It’s a play or not play show and I have to say that I the my co-hosts surprised me more than once.

Oh, fair warning, there may be an explitive at the end of the show. I had it noted and was ready to cover it with a great chicken impression from Ferrel but, for the life of me, I couldn’t find it again. It was somewhere around our conversation about Legos. Yeah, we cussed during the most childlike portion of the show. Sometimes, when you’re feeling like a kid, you need to feel like a bad kid. Just saying.

Anyhow, the show will get censored and re-uploaded. But, for now, we give you Episode 22.

Enjoy!

The Multiverse – Episode #9: “Guest Starring: Syp”

Syp!

Syp!

Happy Monday, folks!

To help you start your week off right, we bring you Episode 9 of The Multiverse and, in my opinion, our best episode yet. We were joined by Syp, from Bio Break (Sypiest. Episode. Ever!) and had a good time talking all things MMORPG.

Join us this week for a interview with Syp, as well as our short-term and long-term predictions for the future of MMORPGs. Of course, we also talk about the week’s news (*cough* Allod’s *cough*) and have some fun discussing games and movies past.

We also change things up a little bit and turn Ferrel’s Guild Tip of the Week into Uncle Ferrel’s Story Hour. By request! See, you can’t say we don’t listen. :-)
